Position Description:

As the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) you will report to the CEO and COO, to oversee operations within the global Supply Chain and Logistics Team including strategic sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, import/export compliance, transportation, and distribution of finished goods.  This position will be responsible for developing plans and procedures to ensure that internal and external customer needs are met.  The CSCO must have a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management and demonstrate an ability to effectively liaise across the entire value chain from suppliers to consumers and retailers. A successful candidate must have a keen awareness of various external influences on a global supply chain and logistics network. This individual will be empowered to develop and optimize our systems, processes, and infrastructure to support our growing business.

This position will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to ensure the success of the organization’s supply chain management from start to finish in our Domestic and International regions.  The CSCO is an integral part of our management team and will regularly present to the Executive Management.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Directs the organization’s overall supply chain operations, including strategic sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, import/export compliance, transportation, and distribution of finished goods both domestically and internationally
  • Develops efficient, cost-effective supply chain strategies to continually improve safety, quality, delivery, value, and cost
  • Evaluates business practices, improves process documentation, streamlines opportunities, and eliminates non-value added services
  • Must have experience in International shipment of hazardous, dangerous goods and responsible for compliance
  • Oversee analysis of supply chain effectiveness, supplier risk, and supplier performance
  • Ensures issues regarding new/existing products are resolved in a timely and cost-efficient manner
  • Drive and facilitate Steve Madden’s strategy for cultivating a fully engaged logistics workforce
  • Oversees related departments and ensures that the processes are both efficient and effective
  • Leads the Strategic Sourcing teams plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and considering economic and currency trends and conditions that affect global supply chain direction of the business, and the global commodities and products sourced, including:
    • Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria
    • Leads and conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value
    • Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence
    • Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process; develops and cultivates effective relationships with suppliers
    • Develop, maintain, and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements
    • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy; Ensures compliance
  • Leads the Corporate Planning and SIOP process, including:
    • Organize and lead monthly collaboration meetings to align demand and ensure successful execution of various programs
    • Drive continuous improvement in our forecasting/demand planning process(es)
    • Manage demand solutions and ERP systems optimization
    • Provide guidance on how to analyze and project sales trend by product by channel, and project the transition of product lifecycle to help develop sales, product development and purchasing strategies
    • Quarterly Line Plan review to determine phase outs, manage style transitions and basic launches
    • Use historical data, current trends, input from business partners and the best statistical forecasting methods to create a quality forecast
    • Measure and report on forecasting accuracy
    • Lead a team that is developing and executing the forecasts
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support to various departments and senior management for business decision making
  • Maintain high level of collaboration with sales, production, marketing, and product teams
  • Serve as the functional expert in the definition, configuration and implementation of any/all new ERP, Planning or optimization applications
  • Supports, in a dotted line fashion, both the Retail department and the manufacturing arm of the Information Technology department

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Procurement,  or a related field (MBA degree in Business/ Organizational Leadership is of added advantage)
  • 10+ years of experience with increasingly progressive logistics responsibilities
  • Solid track record of leading a team to achieve goals set out for department’s overall success
  • Excellent customer service skills. Must have the ability to work with varied internal and external customers and respond to variable customer requirements and demands
  • Experience managing 3rd Party Logistics Providers in a global environment
  • Project management skills and proven expertise in change management
  • Proven track record of excellent negotiating and decision-making skills
  • Capacity to work creatively to formulate new methodologies when needed
  • Comfortable with dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to travel both domestically with occasional International travel
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required
