Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is responsible for developing, championing, executing and leading the organization’s global DEI strategy and programs. Partnering with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, HR and other stakeholders in multiple markets and countries, this person is responsible for formalizing and leading the strategy that embeds a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion building a sense of belonging within the company as well as creating goals and success measures. This role serves as the global leader to drive the development, implementation and integration of best practices and trends to increase diversity, equity and inclusion to grow the cultural proficiency of our team. The Director of DE&I will be the voice on matters related to DEI and will ensure our global workforce experiences a culture of belonging that leverages diverse backgrounds and perspectives of all employees at all levels to build a high-performing, unified global team. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Globally articulate and embed a clear and relevant corporate philosophy and core purpose for DEI that improves year over year diversity and representation metrics and positively impacts engagement and retention of the company’s diverse workforce globally; 
  • Create a roadmap that integrates DEI actions in company policies, practices, and training, and is eventually fully integrated with business goals, drives innovation, and is directly reflected in the company’s brand identity; 
  • Lead and ensure compliance for affirmative action plans annually; 
  • Work globally and cross-functionally to identity champions to influence execution of DEI initiatives. Champion and scale all strategic DEI initiatives globally and track and transparently reports progress; 
  • Collaboratively set and track diversity metrics and goals, report on the results to the leadership team to ensure we are setting an example to the organization with shared accountability by our executive team; 
  • Influence our diversity and inclusion story in partnership with the HR & Communication Team to build the brand as a diverse, inclusive, equitable employer, as we progress towards becoming a role model in the building industry. Ensure messaging is embedded in the employer brand, policies and procedures, communications plans, marketing and advertising, customer service philosophy, and community outreach; 
  • Partner with our Recruiting/Talent Management team to identify and drive diversity recruiting efforts. Examples include building strategic sourcing relationships, diverse talent pools, diverse interview panels, participation at university and external events and diverse career fairs, blind resumes, diverse job board postings, and other innovative solutions; 
  • Partner with HR team and leaders to seamlessly integrate DEI initiatives into current and future workplace practices including retention, engagement, performance management, leadership

development, succession planning, total rewards, internships and mentoring and talent development programs; 

  • Enhance, standardize and lead the organization’s DEI Inclusion Council and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to influence them to prioritize and drive business initiatives; 
  • Ensure equity in response to regional, local, and remote employee and customer diversity needs and issues; 
  • Represent the company externally at key DEI meetings and events. Build a strong public network and presence in communities in which the company operates; 
  • Drive education and programming to continually strengthen a safe, brave, open, collaborative culture that fuels fresh ideas, challenges our thinking, and empowers our people, so they can do their best work. 

Qualifications 

  • Understands the complexities and distinctions of diversity across the globe (operating in the US, Canada, UK, Sweden, Poland, France, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines)’
  • Proven knowledge, skills, awareness of and commitment to contemporary issues of inclusion, diversity, and equity; 
  • Demonstrated success in building and delivering a comprehensive DEI strategy at a global organization; 
  • Ability to analyze data to make decisions and develop key performance indicators;
  • Strong collaborator with ability to connect across the global organization to influence and lead change in partnership with multiple senior stakeholders; 
  • Set a positive standard for openness and listening. Connect in a highly accessible, approachable way to gain access to the pulse of our people, our company history, our cultures, and our aspirations in order to create an environment for diversity, equity and inclusion; 
  • Strong program/project leadership skills with a proven track record of innovative thought leadership, creative problem solving, and mobilizing others; 
  • Applied expertise in facilitating discussions on DE&I topics, and coaching others in this area; 
  • A proven track record of building and scaling DE&I programs; 
  • A solid understanding of industry benchmarks, leading practices, and innovations in DE&I; 
  • Strong bias towards action with the ability to balance the strategic and tactical elements of the role
