Company Summary:

The company is an e-commerce destination designed to inspire the discovery of beauty brands created by Black and Brown founders that resonate with people of all colors. It reframes how Black and Brown beauty brands are perceived not only from an industry perspective, but also for the consumer giving each brand a platform to educate and engage a wider audience.

The Head of Fulfillment & Logistics will be responsible for ensuring customer and partner expectations around shipping, delivery and product integrity are met when they order from thirteen lune. You will establish our fulfillment strategy, work closely with our partners, and optimize inbound freight, warehousing and shipping against cost and efficiency goals.

You are an excellent communicator and are extremely proactive. You have deep expertise in logistics and work well in a team-oriented, collaborative, fast-paced environment. Due to the current state of the world, this will be a remote position until it is safe to resume operations in our West Hollywood HQ. However, this position will require regular in-person visits to our Los Angeles warehouse and as such, residence in Southern California is preferred. You will report directly to the company’s CEO.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure Fulfillment & Logistics supports overall company strategy and meets customer and partner expectations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for respective area and help troubleshoot fulfillment and transportation-related customer issues
  • Manage Wholesale Fulfillment
  • Work with product team and manufacturing partners to find best solutions for:
  • Transportation and fulfillment strategies across multiple distribution centers and direct to customer
  • Exporting from overseas to US, packing, receiving, customs and various trucking, shipping logistics
  • Lead 3rd party compliance on vendor/manufacturer set up and routing guide requirements
  • Direct advantageous costing strategies for wholesale division in executing FOB and/or LDP
  • Execute strategies that will enable thirteen lune to process shipments and fulfilment with accuracy, best efficiency and speed to customer
  • Troubleshoot EDI orders with our partners and drive closure to issues, ensuring 100% fulfillment and data processing completion
  • Build and maintain customer-specific budget and financial reporting for fulfillment of wholesale orders
  • 3PL and Warehouse Leadership
    • Develop optimal strategy to manage the company’s warehousing and fulfillment center needs
    • Represent the company with 3PL management and team and ensure that our 3PL service is operating in line with all agreed SLA’s
    • Manage 3PL/warehouse performance against defined KPIs and metrics
    • Identify and execute ideas to drive efficiencies and cost savings in the warehouse environment
    • Continuously model and optimize warehousing and fulfillment needs against evolving business priorities
    • Stay current with advancement and technology in warehousing and fulfillment
    • Regular on-site engagement with 3PL teams in Los Angeles
  • Logistics Management
    • Manage company logistics to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all components and finished goods
    • Develop strategies to optimize the company’s inbound, outbound and reverse logistics
    • Identify ways to mitigate against shipping volatility and costs
    • Represent the company with shipping and freight partner management and team
    • Drive optimization of delivery time and cost across all shipping partners
    • Stay current with advancement and technology in logistics
  • Improve data and processes
    • Monitor and drive KPIs on operational performance measurement systems such as outbound order fulfillment rates, inbound receiving rates, order accuracy rate, on-time/in-full shipping and routing, non-compliance rates, inventory shrink, etc.
    • Perform and understand root cause analysis to drive problem resolution relating to process and/or overall operational improvements
    • Develop and administer SOPS (standard operating procedures) for executing activities for incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of products, and maintaining high standards of inventory accuracy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • 5+ Years in Operations, Logistics, Warehousing, Freight for retail businesses
  • Knowledgeable in various inventory tracking systems (internal and external)
  • Experience in systems such as Shopify and EDI (SPS Commerce / Spring Systems)
  • Strong financial acumen to manage overall costs and understand the dynamics of 3PL cost model/CPU variance analysis
  • Experience managing overall forecast, budget, and cost of both Fulfillment and Shipping
  • Experience in managing 3PL relationships or direct warehouse operations
  • Experience with managing overseas freight and domestic shipping and logistics
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator. Ability to distill and articulate complex information in a clear way that can drive business decisions
  • Creative, flexible thinker who can respond nimbly to ever-changing situations
  • Pragmatic, curious, data-driven, and results-oriented
