OneTen is a coalition of leading chief executives and their companies who are coming together to hire, promote, and advance one million Black individuals who do not yet have a four-year degree into family-sustaining careers over the next 10 years. We take a skills-first approach, connecting employers with talent partners, leading nonprofits, and other skill-credentialing organizations to support the development and promotion of diverse talent. Ultimately, our vision is to close the racial wealth gap in the United States.

OneTen’s coalition has grown to include the support of over 70 companies across industries. Position Description:

OneTen is seeking a team of National Account Managers to provide senior-level leadership to advance and accelerate the progress of each company who has joined the OneTen coalition. The primary mission of each company is to upskill, hire, and/or promote as many Black individuals without four-year degrees into family-sustaining jobs. National Account Managers will be responsible for working collaboratively with coalition companies to identify and deliver the most impactful and additive ways that OneTen can support. While each company will have unique needs, broadly, National Account Managers will orchestrate support to help companies:

  • Foster a skills-first oriented culture (where talent is assessed and valued directly on their demonstrated skill sets, not indirectly from ‘pedigrees’ such as 4-year degrees)
  • Identify the most suitable jobs to target for the OneTen mission
  • Connect with relevant talent partners / pools and facilitate hiring programs
  • Market their commitment to OneTen and job opportunities to directly attract applicants
  • Design skills-first training programs to up-/re-skill talent to grow internal candidate pools
  • Line-up wraparound support services (e.g., childcare, transportation assistance) for applicants and/or existing company employees to ensure equitable experiences
  • Promote the OneTen mission amongst internal company sponsors and stakeholders
  • Meet other coalition companies to share experiences and exchange best practices
  • Diagnose and address issues that disproportionately impact the retention and/or advancement of Black employees without 4-year degrees

Each National Account Manager will be the primary ‘point of contact’ for a portfolio of companies. These portfolios will extend nationwide and be determined based on companies that operate in similar sectors / industries. This will ensure that National Account Managers are deep experts on the common opportunities and challenges companies face within an industry. National Account Managers will own and manage the relationship with the “Operations Leads” designated by each coalition company to drive their OneTen-related efforts. National Account Managers will also serve as the internal OneTen leader to coordinate support for their portfolio of companies. As such, they will work closely with OneTen’s Talent

Development and Support function, as well as other key groups (e.g., Strategic Growth / Local Markets Team, Communication Team, Special Projects Team, IT Team, etc.) to create seamless,‘one-stop’ solutions for coalition companies.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Establishing trusting relationships and serving as day-to-day ‘point of contact’ with Operational Leads; building and maintaining high client satisfaction and advocacy
  • Finding ways to maximize the number of family-sustaining job opportunities companies create / provide to Black talent without 4-year degrees
  • Understanding the unique needs of each company within portfolio to drive progress on creating a skills-first talent model and advancing against the OneTen mission; additionally, drawing out insights on commonly needed support for companies within industry sector
  • Working across the internal OneTen organization to develop and deliver repeatable solutions to companies that advance / accelerate their progress on OneTen’s mission
  • Co-designing operational plans with coalition companies; communicating those plans to various stakeholders (e.g., coalition company leadership, OneTen Board and Executive Committee, OneTen leadership team, others)
  • Taking accountability for driving and measuring progress with coalition companies
  • Providing thought leadership and input into the longer-term strategic direction OneTen should take to support its coalition companies

Functional Background & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience building teams, forming team cultures, and scaling teams 
  • Experience developing strategies and executing and operationalizing bold vision 
  • Strategic partnership and communications skills; ability to influence and inspire multifaceted partnerships and collaborations
  • Ability to design sophisticated work-streams in entrepreneurial, dynamic, cross-functional environments 
  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following: Building strong collaborative partnerships with corporations, workforce development organizations, and/or learning institutions (including HSBCU’s and community colleges) 
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with management teams across the organization to ensure strategic alignment 
  • Experience in project management, including ability to juggle multiple priorities while staying organized and focused
  • Assess and report on progress in meeting department objectives
  • Flexible and dynamic, able to work as thought partners with C-suite leaders to drive growth strategy and business development  
  • Mixture of non-profit/for-profit experience
  • The ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organization to improved performance; tenacious and accountable in driving results
  • Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
