Comprehensive Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Solutions with Netflix

Netflix

Industry: Entertainment
HQ Location: Los Gatos, CA
Size:12,356 employees*

The Background

Yardstick Management was given a great deal of range to develop and implement swift and significant comprehensive solutions in the areas of organizational management, talent acquisition, and event strategy at the onset of partnering with Netflix in October of 2019. The world’s leading streaming entertainment service proposed a scope that included, but was not limited to, recruitment, outreach and engagement both internally and externally, executive sourcing, and assistance with developing diverse networks with underrepresented groups. Given the nature and breadth of the work, it was clear that Netflix was ready to make the leap from being a diverse organization to becoming an authentically inclusive organization with a blueprint for improvement that could be used year after year. Yardstick was fully committed and prepared to provide guidance and support through this endeavor.

The Challenge

Yardstick conducted a deep analysis to understand Netflix’s specific needs and determine customized solutions. Through the partnership, Yardstick has been able to accelerate Netflix’s initiatives of identifying diverse leaders, partnerships and connections with underrepresented groups that make sense for their line of business. Providing access to rooms of networks that Netflix can join, build relationships with, and leverage for knowledge, resources, and talent is Yardstick’s largest mission.

The Tactics

Yardstick Management orchestrated the Re-write Dinners, formerly known as Jefferson dinners. The goal of these in-person, and now virtual banquets, was to engage diverse thought leaders in a single and communal conversation: Changing the Complexion and Composition of the C-Suite in the Midst of Crisis. Yardstick and Netflix worked as partners to select a topic and a keynote with the ability to inspire, inform, and challenge attendees across verticals. Yardstick carefully curated a group of senior level diverse CXO’s, SVPs, and other underrepresented minority leaders through its vast network of diverse talent. Yardstick planned the logistics and ensured the smooth and efficient operations of the Re-write dinners and other small dinners and mixers geared toward creating access to diverse talent. Participants were provided with a menu consisting of minority-owned restaurant meals, providing hand-selected dinners and wine or choice of drink to be delivered to their homes on the evening of the event. Additionally, Yardstick executed executive sourcing resulting in several, and still counting, executive placements for the Netflix team.

The Results

Yardstick Management performed an in-depth landscape analysis and assessment of diverse leadership talent pools in each target geography. Yardstick built several power lists, introducing over Senior Executives at the executive level, cataloguing potential partners in serving underrepresented groups, and creating authentic and diverse networking opportunities across identified verticals. Additionally, through this partnership, Yardstick played a critical role in Netflix’s historic $100 Million investment into black-owned banks. Through continued support and counsel, Yardstick continues to ensure Netflix has access to, attracts, and retains leadership talent that directly resemble the organizational diversity they seek.
