Position Description:

Our business, a new digital opportunity, has been fully funded to deliver a unique, cutting-edge product from the ground up, in an ambitious and dynamic environment. We are looking for passionate individuals who thrive on teams that rapidly ideate, implement and iterate, in order to and produce the best product possible for our clients.

We are building this new, cloud-native product from the ground up – join us on our journey and influence the architecture and implementation we use to develop a highly-scalable, revenue producing platform.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Own the data model for the overall platform, including access control, architecture changes, new system builds and enhancements
  • Engage the business users to assess their information needs
  • Review the business process and conceptualize the entities that interoperate within the business process
  • Develop a logical data model and validate the model to ensure that it serves the needs of the business application and its consumers
  • Transform the logical representation of the model into a physical representation and work with the data engineers to instantiate and manage the data
  • Ensure that data sets conform to logical and semantic standards with clear business definitions
  • Develop expertise in subject areas represented by our data, understand what questions are answerable today and need to be answered tomorrow
  • Collaborate with the BI/Analytics team on creating the optimized, reusable semantic model; optimize the model to ensure predictable performance
  • Understand data lineage and forecast impact of changes to our data on downstream systems
  • Maintain the metadata — the “data about the data” describing the data model, its structure, and semantics
  • Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for design and maintenance

Functional Background & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data modeling, data analytics and business intelligence, with knowledge of data warehousing, and the development of physical and logical models
  • Expertise in database and data warehousing concepts (e.g. star schema, entitlement implementations, SQL v/s NoSQL modeling, milestoning, indexing, partitioning)
  • Proven experience developing models for Business Intelligence (BI) solutions with experience with BI products like Tableau
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, self-directed and self-motivated
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and working as part of a global team
  • Experience with data strategy, data governance and standards, data architecture principles, and metadata management best practices
  • Experience in database performance tuning and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Experience with analytics databases such as Snowflake or Redshift
  • Working knowledge of UML or BPM
  • Basic programming skills e.g. Scripting, Python
  • Experience in Financial Services
  • Commercial awareness
